Then it is back on the bus for the last climb to the largest attraction of Tenerife, Las Canadas National Park, and the peak of Teide. Make sure that you have brought something warm to wear as the air thins quite considerably, and it can get very cold up here.
Mount Teide stands at a domineering height of 3718 metres, and can be seen from almost anywhere on the island. It is the third largest Volcano in the world from its base, and is dormant at the moment. The last time it erupted was just over 100 years ago.
Teide is set in a huge crater, formed out of Lava rock, and it is very space like. It has been the set for many films over the years, one of the most famous being Star Wars. The terrain here is like no other, but it also has many indigenous plants and fauna specialised to this area.

The bus takes you as high as the cable car which lies approximately 400 metres from the peak of Teide. Here it stops and gives you plenty of time to take the climb on the Cable car which takes you to within 200 metres of the peak. This is a very worthwhile trip to take as you get to see the entire island and sometimes some of the other Canary Islands below you depending on how clear the day is.
The journey on the cable car takes approximately 15 minutes up, and a further 15 minutes back. When you reach the top of the cable car trip you can get off and take a wonder round enjoying the views from this magnificent height.
Once you have enjoyed the cable car ride, you are also able to pop into the souvenir shop at the bottom, and a little bar to enjoy some local food or drink. Then it is back on the bus heading back to the south of the island. The guide will give you commentary on what you have seen, and the journey back down south. The bus will drop everyone back at their hotels on the way back.
Duration: Back to hotel 3pm approx.
